Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s future with the Milwaukee Bucks becomes even more uncertain after suffering from an early playoff exit against the Indiana Pacers. Despite giving his all in the series, speculations arise that Antetokounmpo might soon seek a fresh start outside Milwaukee.
Veteran analyst John Hollinger adds fuel to the speculation, suggesting that the San Antonio Spurs have a strong chance of obtaining Antetokounmpo, a rumor reported by Dusty Garza on X this Thursday.
“The Bucks could explore trading Giannis after their 1st-round exit. The Spurs are one of 4 teams he [Hollinger] thinks could make a serious offer — ‘centered around Stephon Castle, multiple lotto picks,” Garza noted.

Hollinger mentioned the Spurs as a possible partner for the Bucks in trading Giannis Antetokounmpo, partnering him with big man Viktor Wembanyama. He also mentioned San Antonio’s offers to Milwaukee.
“No, Bucks fans, you’re not getting Victor Wembanyama for Giannis. But you might get Stephon Castle. The Spurs also have two 2025 lottery picks (their own and Atlanta’s), an unprotected 2027 pick from Atlanta and several swaps, plus they can deal their own picks in 2029 and 2031. Keldon Johnson and Harrison Barnes would be the salary ballast,” the veteran analyst said.
A Giannis Antetokounmpo-Wembanyama duo could dramatically change the West’s atmosphere, bringing depth and strength. Along with Chris Paul, this trio could bring the Spurs back into playoff contention. Meanwhile, the Bucks could use Stephon Castle, this season’s ROTY, and assets like Keldon Johnson to rebuild their aging roster.

Another Giannis Antetokounmpo speculation: two-time MVP could land in West contender in trade proposal
While Giannis Antetokounmpo still hasn’t desired to leave the Milwaukee Bucks, many have begun speculating that he would, especially after the early playoff exit. On Wednesday, Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley made a mock trade involving Antetokounmpo and the Houston Rockets.

Buckley mentioned that the Rockets could trade Jalen Green, Jabari Smith Jr., and more stars in exchange for Antetokounmpo. However, Alperen Sengun will stay, providing the “Greek Freak” a key center.
“He could serve as their go-to scorer, but he wouldn’t have to monopolize their touches,” Buckley wrote.
“That’s big, because Houston would almost certainly want to do an Antetokounmpo deal without giving up Alperen Sengun. Milwaukee could sign off on such a swap, too, since the Rockets could still send back multiple first-round picks and other young, talented players instead.”

Buckley also mentioned the Golden State Warriors, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the San Antonio Spurs as Giannis Antetokounmpo’s landing spots in the West. However, it’ll still take a blockbuster trade for Antetokounmpo to land in those teams, and it’s still uncertain whether he’ll emulate his Milwaukee stint with new teammates.
