Luke Kornet provided a huge lift for the San Antonio Spurs in their 121-117 road win against the Chicago Bulls last Monday. The one-time NBA champion returned from an ankle injury and recorded 16 points, seven rebounds, and two assists on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting from the field.

The San Antonio Spurs haven’t lost any of the three games Kornet has played in so far this season. Unsurprisingly, the 30-year-old drew praise from his teammates after Monday’s game.
“Yeah, for sure. It’s good to have him back. There’s not many shot blockers like him in the league,” Wembanyama said of Kornet via ClutchPoints’ Hector Ledesma. “It’s always good to play with Luke.”

“He was great rolling to the rim all day. Played great defense. Great communicator on the floor, too. So, it was great to have him back,” Stephon Castle added. “Definitely with the lobs… It definitely does make a difference. I ain’t gonna lie.”
San Antonio Spurs News: Luke Kornet raves about playing alongside Victor Wembanyama
Luke Kornet has certainly meshed well with Victor Wembanyama, and the San Antonio Spurs center sees a bright future for the Frenchman in the years to come.

“I think there’s definitely parts of the game where you just feel his impact and obviously the Bulls game was one on both sides of the floor,” Kornet said. “You just start recognizing it. When he starts feeling in a flow, you’re just working to enable that and have space around it and stuff like that.”
“Obviously, he’s still pretty young, and so is the experience of playing with him. So, it’s been fun to just be able to grow with him,” he added. “And honestly, our whole team, I feel like that’s another part of it. There’s been a lot of people coming back and getting into the game and stuff like that with Fox and Jeremy (Sochan) and stuff. So, yeah, there’s a lot of us.”
