Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham is currently dating Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr., at least according to what one viral post on social media has been claiming.
The post came from one account from X, which showed a screenshot of what was supposed to be an Instagram story from Nets forward Micahel Porter Jr., alongside Sophie Cunningham. The caption doubled down on the implied news, too.

“Sophie Cunningham and MPJ are dating,” the caption from Bricks Center read, with an added broken heart emoji.

However, a closer look at the source will reveal the authenticity of the news, that this is nothing but fake information and a fake screenshot. For one, the supposed story cannot be found on Porter’s Instagram. Even Cunningham’s socials do not show any trace of this announcement.
Furthermore, Bricks Center is a fully-disclosed parody account, aside from posting sports “fails” that are often either taken out of context or real footage given a misleading caption.
Sophie Cunningham Talks About Unrivaled “Conflict of Interest” with WNBA
Sophie Cunningham highlighted a potential conflict of interest regarding the WNBA bargaining table, noting that Unrivaled co-founders Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier simultaneously serve as vice presidents on the WNBPA executive committee.

Cunnihgham raised this dual role during a recent episode of her “Show Me Something” podcast. She praised Stewart and Collier for being elite players but noted that their ownership and leadership roles could make it complicated for them to negotiate over pay and league policy.
“This is good, this is kind of some tea. So both of [Collier and Stewart], great f****** players, right? Like, phenomenal,” Cunningham said, talking about the 3-on-3 league. “But they are also a part of [the WNBA’s] exec board. And so that could be a little conflict of interest, because W and Unrivaled. That’s why there’s some conflict of interest, a little bit. So that’s interesting.”

Cunningham’s remarks come as Unrivaled is introducing its second season, after already receiving considerable attention from its first season, by compensating players in amounts that overshadow the current WNBA salaries and have changed the dialogue around pay in women’s basketball.
Cunningham’s discussion shifts the way CBA is covered, moving the scrutiny away from headline figures of salaries to the very systems that allow for bargaining power, and whether or not the way that negotiators are positioned off the court is influencing the outcomes and shaping public trust in the outcomes.
Sophie Cunningham is currently a free agent and is awaiting a new contract as she heads to the 2026 season.
