Svi Mykhailiuk raised eyebrows when he led the Utah Jazz in scoring on Wednesday night. In the 114-103 loss against the Detroit Pistons, the one-time NBA champion scored a career-high 28 points on 10-for-16 shooting from the field in 36 minutes of action.

However, this performance didn’t surprise Mykhailiuk’s teammates at all, and Utah Jazz rookie Ace Bailey made sure to give the Ukrainian international his props after the match.
“I mean, his time and the patience he got — everything I do right now, I feel like it’s kind of fast,” Bailey said of Mykhailiuk via KSL.com. “I mean, he’s got patience with it; keeping the dribble alive, making the next read and stuff like that. So I’m learning a lot from Svi.”

“Svi is in a moment where you look at his contract and he’s playing for something. But the way he carries himself, the way he interacts with all of his teammates, he would never let you know that there’s that desperation — he doesn’t make it about himself,” Utah Jazz coach Will Hardy added. “He really gives himself to the group. And I think that’s something that we can all take from Svi.”
Utah Jazz suffer huge injury blow to promising center
The Utah Jazz recently confirmed that Walker Kessler is out for the rest of the 2025-26 NBA season due to a shoulder injury, and the 24-year-old rim protector just underwent surgery to fix it.

“No other way around, it sucks for him,” Lauri Markkanen said of Kessler’s injury. “He wants to be out there. He wants to help the team. But it obviously sucks to not have him out there helping us… But trying to take it as a learning thing for us to guard the ball better. But, yeah, no other way around it — it sucks.”
“I know all the thoughts that come with the doctor telling you that it’s over for the season,” Taylor Hendricks added. “So I definitely feel for him — feel for him a lot.”
