NBA teams get enough time to prepare for their next opponent. That is their job. For Michael Porter Jr. of the Brooklyn Nets, that’s not what happened on Monday night against the Golden State Warriors. It is not because they did not prepare. To him, there was just something about the Dubs’ offense.

Nets hosted the Warriors and ended up losing the game, 107-120. They lost it in the fourth quarter when they were outscored by the Stephen Curry-led squad, 22 against 31.
Porter Jr. said the offense that they were trying to defend is something not exactly familiar to them.
“A different style of offense. We haven’t really seen it yet, a lot of off-ball movement, so we just aren’t familiar with their offense as a team,” Porter said after the game.
“We need to execute better than the fourth. I probably need to try to be a little bit more aggressive offensively in the fourth quarter, as well.”

Porter Jr. had his usual great scoring night with 27 points. However, they failed to stop the Warriors’ free flowing offense led by Curry who also had 27 points.
Curry was well-supported by his teammates, especially by the bench wherein four of them scored in double digits.
Brooklyn Nets had bad defensive night
Head coach Jordi Fernandez confirmed this assessment by MPJ. The coach’s assessment is more blatant and critical.
He said he was disappointed by the effort, especially because it is something they can control.
“This is disappointing because there’s things you can control, and it’s your energy … how you talk to teammates, and [there was] frustration at times. We dropped our shoulders too much,” Nets coach Jordi Fernández said.

“We’ve just got to be better, and it reflected in our defense, with our attention to detail, our activity.”
Nets are coming off two inspiring wins after they got two road wins against the Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves. They are back on the drawing board and will face Houston Rockets on January 1.
