Kevin Durant came up clutch for the Houston Rockets on Sunday against the Orlando Magic, giving them a 117-113 win in overtime. During the final moments of the overtime period, Durant’s late-game heroics pushed the Rockets to win the game. With the clock winding down, the two-time champion had a one-on-one moment with Magic forward Tristan da Silva.
Durant drove towards the free-throw line and had a pull-up jump shot to give the team the advantage. The veteran star led the Rockets with his 35 points, five rebounds and six assists on 54.2% shooting. All-Star center Alperen Sengun dominated the stat sheet with 30 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and two blocks.

How has Kevin Durant performed for the Rockets this season?

The main reason why the Rockets pursued trading for Durant over the summer was that they believed they could contend this season. The roster move has paid off, since Houston has secured the third spot in the West early in the new campaign.
Last season, the Texas-based team was also a powerhouse in the regular season. However, they crumbled in the postseason. Jalen Green, the team’s go-to scorer last year, underperformed. It was one of the reasons why they couldn’t get past the first round. But with Durant, the team has a real shot at contending.
The 15-time All-Star is averaging 25.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists through 11 games this season. It’s early in the year, but KD has already proved his value to his new team. Additionally, he’s been healthy so far. This is a good sign for the Rockets, as they seek a fruitful year.
