“Luka would probably be ahead of Shai“: Gilbert Arenas has Luka Doncic career ranked higher than Shai Gilgeous-Alexander if they both retired right now

Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas says Los Angeles Lakers point guard Luka Doncic is better than Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, sparking debate. Arenas are having the worst takes in basketball.

Gilbert Arenas has Luka Doncic’s career ranked higher than Shai Gilgeous-Alexander if they both retired right now: “If both of their careers stopped right now. Luka would probably be ahead of Shai.”

Luka is a better player overall, but Shai is a champ and an MVP. That would always get a player higher on legacy talk if the comparison is right.

Shai won a scoring title, MVP, Finals MVP, and a championship. While Luka has the offensive edge, that doesn’t close the gap enough for how much better of a defender Shai is than Luka.

                                                                           Ring Culture vs. Doncic’s Dominance

People’s obsession with placing Doncic ahead of all-time greats without actually accomplishing anything in the NBA has to be studied.  Luka is a great basketball player, but winning matters.

It is always the people who have never won that push that train of thought. Ring culture can be toxic, but to wholeheartedly put Luka all-time ahead of MVPs and champions is just pure disrespect.
