Following Nico Harrison’s dismissal by management, trade speculations began to circulate about Anthony Davis and the Dallas Mavericks. Many believe that the Mavericks are ready to move on from Davis. However, minority owner Mark Cuban told the media that they have no plans to move AD this season and wants to work things out.
The Mavericks acquired Davis last season when they traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. The one-time champion only appeared in nine games last season due to injuries. For the 2025-26 season, there was a huge expectation for the big man to lead Dallas. Unfortunately for the team, he has been limited to five games due to a calf strain.
With the injuries that he’s had in the limited time he’s been in Dallas, trade rumors started to circulate.

Despite the rumors, Anthony Davis remains focused on playing for the Mavericks. After Wednesday’s team practice, the big man shut down the trade chatter around him.
“Man, look, y’all make it like we’re going to war or something,” Davis said. “This is basketball; it comes with it. …That doesn’t affect me; I’ve been in trade talks for a while. My job is to do what I do when I’m on the floor, play basketball and try to lead this team. Whatever comes out of that, comes out of that.”
Anthony Davis was asked about his name being involved in trade rumors:

Davis has missed 14 straight games due to a calf strain. According to reports, the big man could return on Friday against the Lakers. It will be the first time AD steps foot at the Crypto.com Arena this season.
Anthony Davis talked about the firing of Nico Harrison

After a rough start to the season, the Mavericks decided to dismiss Nico Harrison as general manager. While fans have demanded his firing since he traded Doncic away, Anthony Davis was still surprised. Fans have chanted “Fire Nico” in every home game. This season, they got their wish when the organization parted ways with him.
“It was surprising more than anything,” Davis said. “Nico’s my guy, obviously he played a huge part in getting me here and wanting me to fulfill his vision in a sense. It was definitely tough. Me and him had a conversation. Me and [Mavericks governor] Patrick [Dumont] had a conversation. It’s the business of basketball.”
Fans were upset with Harrison’s decision to trade Doncic. He was a beloved star who led the Mavericks to the NBA Finals in 2024. The move is considered the biggest deal in league history.
