The Milwaukee Bucks are catching heat from NBA fans after signing Alex Antetokounmpo to a two-way deal — a move many believe is more about family loyalty than basketball.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Alex is set to join his brothers Giannis and Thanasis on the Bucks roster. It’s a historic first: three siblings playing for the same NBA team at once. But not everyone’s celebrating.

Many fans feel the Bucks are prioritizing the Antetokounmpo family over building a stronger roster.

“Bro, they’re rewriting what nepotism looks like in the NBA.”
“So do we call it the Milwaukee Bucks or the Milwaukee Brothers now?”
The timing of the move raised even more eyebrows. With rumors swirling about Giannis possibly joining the New York Knicks, fans think the Bucks are doing everything possible to keep their two-time MVP happy — even if it means turning the team into a family affair.
“Just to make sure Giannis doesn’t leave”: NBA fans ridicule Bucks organization for bowing down to Giannis Antetokounmpo
After the signing was announced, social media filled with sarcastic takes accusing the Bucks of bending over backward for Giannis.

“Giannis… PLEASE stay?? We’ll sign all your brothers if you want??! (MIL mgmt probably).”
“It lowkey looks like they care more about keeping Giannis from putting in a trade request than putting the best 18 players together.”

While the move drew plenty of ridicule, Alex Antetokounmpo isn’t without talent. The 22-year-old forward put up solid numbers last season with PAOK mateco in Greece, averaging 17 points and 15 rebounds across 14 games.
Still, the optics are hard to ignore. For now, Milwaukee is the first franchise in NBA history to field three brothers on the same active roster, but whether it strengthens the team — or just secures Giannis’ loyalty — remains to be seen.
